(Washington, DC) -- Senator Barack Obama is calling remarks made by Republican presidential hopeful John McCain "offensive." McCain reportedly said Hamas wants to see Obama elected president. McCain also charged that Obama would "surrender" in Iraq. In an interview on CNN, Obama said, quote, "this is offensive." He criticized McCain for making what he considers baseless statements. Obama also faulted the GOP presidential hopeful for going back on a promise to run a dignified campaign.

(Placerville, CA) -- A so-called eco-terroist was sentenced to nearly 20 years in prison yesterday by a federal judge in Sacramento. Eric McDavid was convicted in March of conspiracy to damage or destroy property by fire and an explosive. Two co-conspirators had earlier pleaded guilty and cooperated with the prosecution of McDavid. Those co-conspirators will be sentenced later this year. In early 2006 they purchased materials to create an explosive device. They were contemplating attacks on a dam, a fish hatchery and the U.S. Forest Service Institute of Forest Genetics in Placerville, California.

(Bangkok) -- Any chance of Western relief workers to get into cyclone devastated Myanmar will have to wait for a few days. The country's embassy in nearby Thailand is taking a long weekend in observance of a Thai national holiday, leaving scores of western aid experts in Bangkok, unable to help the victims. Myanmar has been reluctant to accept western help since a cyclone tore through the country last weekend, leaving at least 23-thousand people dead. Some experts say the actual number of casualties could top 100-thousand.

(Washington, DC) -- Some experts say there's not much to be gained for the Democratic party if Senator Hillary Clinton remains in the presidential race. Political analyst John Aylon says Clinton has her dignity at stake after rival Barack Obama notched a big win in Tuesday's North Carolina primary. Even with his victory, Obama won't tell Clinton to quit the race. Obama's chief strategist David Axelrod says the decision should be left to Clinton.
