The President Will Visit Moore Tornado Damage
President Barack Obama will travel to tornado-ravaged Moore, Okla., on Sunday. White House spokesman Jay Carney says the president will view the tornado damage first-hand. He also plans to meet with victims and first responders. The monstrous tornado barreled through the Oklahoma City suburb Monday afternoon, demolishing an elementary school and reducing homes to piles of rubble. State authorities say two infants were among the 24 people who perished in the twister. The town of Moore is a community of 41,000 people located about 10 miles from Oklahoma City.

Memorial Service Planned
Governor Fallin says a memorial and prayer service will be held this weekend to honor all Oklahoma tornado victims.   The service will take place Sunday in the Moore to remember 24 victims there and the two fatalities in Shawnee.   The service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Moore.

U.S. Attorney Sanford Coats Issues A Warning
U.S. Attorney Sanford Coats is warning residents and businesses to keep their guard up when preparing to make donations to aid the tornado relief effort.    The scams can come in a number of forms including email, phone calls and mail solicitations.  People can report suspected fraudulent operations by calling the National Disaster Fraud Hotline at 866-720-5721.  Scam artists will use names similar to legitimate charitable outfits and may use high-pressure tactics to generate contributions.

 A $2 billion tornado damage estimate illustrates just how daunting a task the recovery will be for residents of Moore and South Oklahoma City.   As many as 13,000 homes damaged or destroyed and 33,000 people affected.

Tornado Shelter Registration In OKC
Oklahoma City residents who have not registered their storm shelter with the City’s Action Center can now do so by logging on to www.okc.gov and clicking on the “register your storm shelter” link under the Action Center icon.     The Storm Shelter Registry is a free, voluntary service that allows residents to provide information about their storm shelter so police, fire and emergency responders can find them in case of an emergency.

Free Eye Clinic For Tornado Victims And First Responders
The Dean McGee Eye Institute is offering an ey triage clinic to those impacted by the storm at the Moore Community Center at 301 South Howard.  Dr. Dana Garber will be examining eyes and offering on-scene care for those who have sustained minor eye injuries or whose eye glasses were lost or damaged in the storm and cleanup.   The eye triage clinic will be open Thursday, May 23 and Friday, May 24 from 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Free Vital Records For Storm Victims
The Oklahoma State Department of Health is issuing a temporary waiver of the fees for birth and death certificates for victims of the May 19 and 20 tornadoes. The waiver will remain in effect until June 30, 2013, for those victims whose homes were located in the path of tornadoes in McClain, Cleveland and Oklahoma counties, and the cities of Carney and Shawnee. Storm victims can apply for birth or death certificates at the Oklahoma State Department of Health office at 1000 Northeast Tenth Street in Oklahoma City. There will be no charge. Please bring photo identification or other documents that demonstrate your home address.

Oklahoma Realtor Are Helping People Find Homes
The Oklahoma Association of REALTORS® and its more than 8,300 members are working to help individuals displaced by the recent tornadoes.     OAR has set up a Facebook group to help their displaced neighbors in Moore, Edmond, Shawnee and other towns across the state find temporary and long-term housing solutions in the wake of the recent Oklahoma tornadoes. Displaced families and individuals can visit www.facebook.com/groups/okhomeaid to post their needs. OAR has dedicated Realtors who are regularly monitoring this page and ready to help.   Also, many of OAR’s association offices are serving as drop-off sites for donations to the Salvation Army. They are accepting items including water, sports drinks, diapers, wipes, formula, hand towels, individually wrapped snacks, work gloves, hand sanitizer and sunscreen. Beware Of Food Vendors Who Aren't Up To Code!
 State health officials say several vendors setting up in Moore to help provide food to residents and workers in the area are failing to follow basic health guidelines. Cleveland County Health Department officials say there have been reports of numerous vendors in the area giving away or selling food for people living and working in the area. The director of the state health department's consumer health service, K.C. Ely, says a check of several vendors found no means for washing hands, water, screening, overhead protection or other basic food safety requirements.
