VOTER INFORMATION
In the interest of informing interested electorate, the Oklahoma Policy Institute is offering information about all eleven state questions on the November General Election ballot.  Director David Blatt says lots of interest is already turning up.  The information includes analysis, newspaper articles and blogs.  The information is linked to okpolicy.org.

The remains of an Duncan native killed in Afghanistan are being returned today to Fort Sill.   Staff Sergeant Vinson Adkinson the Third was killed in the Afghan mission.

RODEO COMES TO OKC
The Dodge National Circuit Finals Rodeo will be in Oklahoma City for at least the next three years. The rodeo features all seven events – bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, barrel racing, steer wrestling, team roping, tie-down roping and bull riding.  Oklahoma City has been without championship rodeo for over 25 years.     This annual event will give the area a nice boost from over 30-thousand visitors.

WANDA JACKSON TO BE HONORED
The Americana Music Association is preparing to cite Oklahoma native Wanda Jackson for lifetime achievement duringn tonight's Americana Awards.   The 72-year-old rockabilly singer will be recognized along with John Melloncamp, Luke Lewis, among others.

ELVIS GETS PROBATION
A federal judge gives a longtime Elvis impersonator four years on probation for selling prescription pain pills from inside his Yukon diner to an undercover officer.    43-year-old Darin Thrasher won't do any prison time because of evidence he had overcome his pain pill addiction and helped others get treatment.    Thrasher plead guilty in May to illegal distribution of the painkiller oxycodone.

AD CAMPAIGN TARGETS ASKINS
A third party group is taking aim at Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate Jari Askins with new ads.   They focus on Askins stance on immigration by pointing out she supported legislation giving illegal aliens instate tuition in 2003.    That is if they've lived here for 2 years and are taking steps to become citizens.   The ads claims Askins supports amnesty for young illegal immigrants.  The Askins camp says the advertisement has taken a quote out of context.   The bill is sponsored by Republican Governor's Association.  The Fallin camp says they aren't responsible for the content of the ad.

CRIME SPREE SUSPECT CONSUMED DRUGS ON THE SPOT
One of two men who robbed pharmacies on a two-county crime spree yesterday were demanding and consuming drugs on the spot.  Pharmacist Scott Tucker in Tecumseh says Bobby Cardenas demanded syringes from the back of his store.  Cardenas, of California, is jailed along with another.  Sheriff Shannon Smith says the identity of the second man can't be confirmed, since it's believed he gave authorities a bogus name.

AAA PLEASED WITH HIGHWAY STIMULUS ANNOUNCEMENT
Triple-A Oklahoma has expressed approval of President Obama's proposed 50-billion-dollar stimulus bill to shore up the nation's highways.  The bill is likely to face stiff opposition and delay attempts heading into the November elections, but the auto club says it represents a good starting point for debate and awareness among motorists.
