EXPLOSIVE DEVICE FOUND NEAR ARDMORE CHURCH
(Ardmore, OK)  --  Ardmore police expect charges to be filed today after an explosive device was found in the parking lot of Northwest Baptist Church.  Clay Simmonds with the FBI says they were involved initially.  The bomb was safely detonated at an undisclosed location.  Simmonds says the rest of the investigation will be handled by Ardmore police.  It's not clear whether more than one suspect was involved.  No arrests have yet been made.

SCHOOL HEAVILY DAMAGED BY STORM
(Oklahoma City, OK)  --  It's unclear when classes will resume in a Putnam City school after it was heavily hit by a severe storm yesterday evening.  Much of the roof was torn off, allowing a lot of water inside, and district spokesman Steve Lindley says there was an odor of natural gas inside Dennis Elementary School.

MUSKOGEE CONDUCTS DRUG RAID
(Muskogee, OK)  --  Federal authorities have joined in as Muskogee police arrest no fewer than eighteen people on meth lab charges.  Authorities say 99 arrest warrants were issued.  There have been five structure fires caused by Muskogee meth labs this year, and two trash trucks caught fire because of disposed meth lab residue.

HOME INVASION NUMBERS DISTURBING
(Tulsa, OK)  --  Tulsans are growing increasingly disturbed about the numbers of home invasions.  There have been seven violent incidences since June 20th with one of them resulting in death.  The latest just last Sunday left a resident in serious condition with several gunshot wounds to his abdomen, and police are still looking for two suspects.

THUNDERSTORM DAMAGE DOTS OKC METRO
No-one was hurt, but severe thunderstorm packed winds up to 75 miles per hour yesterday evening across the Oklahoma City metro area.  OG&E crews worked much of the night to restore power to nearly fifteen-thousand customers.  One elementary school sustained heavy roof damage.

POLICEMAN WILL NOT BE CHARGES
An Oklahoma City police officer will not be charged with negligent homicide in a fatal accident.  Officer John Paull was driving 64 miles-per-hour in a 34 mile-per-hour zone while responding to a call when he slammed into a car driven by Raul Rios Becerra who was killed.  The District Attorney's Office reports 49-year-old Becerra was intoxicated and ran a stop sign before the accident.

BOBBI PARKER STILL ON TRIAL
A Greer County judge has turned away a motion to dismiss charges against Bobbi Parker.  She's the woman accused of helping Randolph Dial escape from prison in 1994.  Parker claims to have been kidnapped and held against her will before she and Dial were found on an east Texas chicken ranch.  Dial has since died in prison.  Defense attorney Garvin Isaacs had unsuccessfully argued a taped interview was poor audio quality and unintelligible.

ATTORNEY SEEKS TO CLEAR HIS NAME
A criminal defense attorney in Oklahoma City said yesterday he has asked the attorney general to investigate a district judge so his name can be cleared.  Michael Johnson is concerned about the public's perception of him since his name popped up in news reports regarding Judge Tammy Bass-LeSure.  Forty-two-year-old Johnson said he has been caught in the crossfire and the complete story is not being told.  A spokesman for the attorney general said the office had received Johnson's request.

NORMAN POLICE SEEK SHOOTING SUSPECT
Norman police are asking public assistance in finding 20-year-old David Duncan in the shooting of Randy Hayes of Norman earlier this week.  Hayes is reported in stable condition with multiple gunshot wounds after the attack near Lake Thunderbird.  Duncan is charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.  He's described as white; about five-ten by 150 pounds with brown hair and eyes.

TWO COMPANIES FIRED AMID FRAUD ALLEGATIONS
The Oklahoma City School Board has ended contracts with a pair of tutoring companies being probed for fraud.  Officials say A-Plus Academics and Foundations Tutoring were not tutoring students for which they had billed the district.  Superintendent Karl Springer said after meeting with the board, quote, "I cannot comment because there is an ongoing investigation."
