Tip Club has been meeting weekly since the mid 1950’s and is probably OKC’s oldest weekly “tip” club. Tip Club is based on the “Mastermind Group” principle from Think & Grow Rich. 1/7 - 6/30 Hearing Loss Association, support group meeting Hearing Loss Association of Oklahoma City Meets monthly on the second Monday. 7-8PM 5100 N Brookline, suite 100 (Immediately West of NW 50th & May). HLA is a support and advocacy group for people with hearing loss and those who love 'em. HLA advocated successfully for communication access in churches, schools, theaters, courtrooms, performing arts centers and more. Members have been called upon to advise, counsel, assist and act as a support system to many who struggle to live with hearing loss, many of them adults who have acquired this invisible disability and find need support on their jobs and in their families. HLA also offers the Faye Donalson Hearing Helpers Demonstration room complete with all sorts of assistave devices. 3/27 Inventing Fantastic Stories Creative Writing Festival Noted screenwriter and novelist Lou Berney and celebrated poet Douglas Goetsch will headline this Creative Writing Festival, that's free and open to the public. Workshops will be available in freewriting, writing invention, plotting and structuring a work and character creation. There will also be a session with Berney and Goetsch on writing life and publication, as well as creative readings and opportunities for book signings. OCU will sponsor a writing contest for local high school students as part of the festivities. Scholarships will be awarded for the winning entries.
